MINUTES OF LAST MEETING (11.27.16)
At exactly 4.50pm, the president gave the all clear for the meeting to start. This was preceded by opening prayers conducted by Pastor Thomas Ativie. Shortly after the prayer session, the minute of the day was read out with a little observation; the money collected in the previous meeting was not documented in the minute, against this observation, the money collected in the general meeting for the month of October 2016 was recorded as: Dues amounted to $950.00, and lateness fee was $10.00 which brings the total amount collected to be $960.00. Beyond this observation, Mr. Iriogbe. And Mr. Udezi both moved and adopted the minute.
Under matters arising from the minute, the issue of food was a common theme among members that had access to the microphone, overall they believe that every member of the united Esan association of Chicago is duty bound to be responsible, cautious and considerate when it comes to food, as well as the follow up clean up exercise after eating.
Based on the agenda of the day, the president, Mr. Sam Aigbokhai thanked and acknowledged the host of November general meeting, while at the same time recognized Mr. Steve Ativie, Mr. Matthew Ikhumen, Mr. Akhere Otuokpasian, Mr. Mike Amede and Mr. Eugene Ilenikhena as the host of today’s meeting.
Next on the agenda, the president once more highlighted on member’s responsibilities and obligations. Observably, Mr. Aigbokhai decried that members are yet to make remarkable improvement on attendance, punctuality and their financial commitment to our organization. Mr. Andrew Arhebun also troubled by this trend, he maintained that some members are taking undue advantage of the association, primarily because of our relaxed enforcement mechanism. Continuing, Mr. Arhebun highlighted further that these crop of members maintain poor financial and attendance record all year round, and when they have fundraising, they play good only to return to their poor behavior after such event/support.
Still on the same attendance and individual financial health, Mr. Udezi and Mr. Iriogbe both maintained the same line of thought that the leadership team must do more to enforce existing laws. Mr. Iriogbe went further to reassure the house that while the constitution is under revision, some changes and observations will reflect in the revised constitution. Dr. Ilegbodu, who continue to urge the executive to define membership, he maintained that up until we clarify what true membership constitute, some folks will continue to game the loophole that exist in our present setup.
The following highlights featured on any other matter;
Ø Mr. Godwin Aigbogun thanked the house for the show of love and support he enjoyed from members of UEA during fundraising (11/12/16).
Ø Mrs. Tessy Imarenezor also thanked the house for the show of love and support while honoring her invitation.
Ø Members were invited to attend Baby showerin view of our expectant sister, the wife of Mr. Austin Stephen
Ø Mr. Abraham Omoghibo expressed concern about the associations’ missing vacuum cleaner, allegedly, the vacuum cleaner is in one of our members possession, he challenged the executive to step up effort to retrieve it back since the vacuum serve useful purpose.
Ø Mr. Boniface, concerned about the association’s position on Mr. Godwin Aigbogun fundraising, he believed that the association may have shortchanged Mr. Aigbogun and urge leadership to address his concern. In clear terms, the president advised that the constitution is pretty clear on the issue and that Aigbogun’s case fell short of Mr. Boniface expectation.
Ø Mr. George Adawan also took out time to thank the house for the support and love he enjoyed from house members during a challenging moment which he has since overcome; also he used the opportunity to urge the executives to expedite actions on our desire to utilize our Esan House at the earliest time.
In a return and unopposed election victory, the current executives were reelected to continue in their present position. Effort to swear in the newly reelected executives by Mr. Roland Imarenezor proved abortive as it was against the constitutional. January the 29th is slated to be the new swearing date.
New members were received and welcomed to our great association; Mr. Victor Oamen and Sister Stella Edogho.
At exactly 7.00pm, the meeting came to a close with closing prayers by Pastor Godfrey Ekhomu.
